How does selfie matching actually work?
Your selfie is read for face geometry, eye spacing, jawline curvature, the position of features relative to each other, and converted into a numerical fingerprint. That fingerprint is searched against the indexed faces from every photo at the festival you attended. Within seconds, every photo where your face appears (at any confidence above the threshold) is surfaced, ranked by how confident the system is that it's actually you. What if my face isn't visible in some photos?
That's exactly the gap outfit matching closes. After the face pass, the system looks for photos where the dominant color blob (your jacket, dress, shirt) matches the one in your selfie's face frame. Each candidate is then re-checked for any partial face, a cheek, a jawline, even an ear, to verify it's actually you, not a stranger in similar clothing. That's how you end up with photos of you turned toward the stage, hood up, that no scrolling could ever surface.
What about privacy? What happens to my selfie?
Your selfie is used to generate a face fingerprint, then the original is deleted unless you opt in to save it for future festivals. The fingerprint is searched only against photos from the event you came to find. We never sell face data. We never train models on user faces. You can delete your fingerprint at any time from your profile and we wipe it from our systems within 24 hours. The full breakdown is on our FAQ page.
How much does it cost?
Searching is always free. You only pay for the photos you actually want. Most photographers price single digital downloads at $3–$8, with bundle discounts that scale: 10% off at 5 photos, 20% off at 10. Prints, canvas, and apparel are priced separately at checkout and shipped to your door from the US. 85% of every dollar goes to the photographer who took the frame.
What if a match isn't actually me?
Mark it as wrong in the app, it disappears from your results and trains the system not to surface that face for you again. If you've already purchased a photo that turned out to be a stranger with a similar face, email hello@initpic.com within 7 days and we'll refund it.
Can I use this for an event that already happened?
If the festival worked with InItPic, yes. Search by event name or photographer name. If the festival used a different photo system, we can't help with that one specifically, but we'd love to be at next year's event. Pass our name along.
